Life Story

Hi there! I'm Sean a.k.a Monte (he/him).  Growing up in Pennsylvania I was always involved in community and school sponsored sports, including football, track, wrestling and basketball. During my youth, I struggled with my self image, including my weight, which encouraged me to push harder in sports. From a young age, at just 15, I began working with a strength and conditioning coach.  This coach helped teach me the science of mobility, injury prevention, resistance training, and sport specific skills, focusing mainly on football.

I started my freshman year at Kutztown University with a goal to be the best football player I could be. But things took a turn. Shortly into the football season that first year, I quit... something I had never done before.

Instead of pursuing a college career in football, I turned to rugby and continued my four years at KU playing on a national ranked club team. In my years playing for this team, I began to grow as more than just an athlete. I also grew as a friend, student, teammate and leader.

Following my years at KU, I found myself working in Vermont for a wilderness therapy organization. A position that combined my passion for the outdoors, adventure, and working with people to make changes in their lives.

During this time in Vermont, I became even more of an outdoor enthusiast and my workout routines developed further. I began incorporating not only weightlifting, but also many more types of movement: yoga, climbing, hiking, and all things SNOW!  I even shifted to a plant based diet, which inspired my mindset to transform around food and lifestyle.

Currently, I am a Health and Wellness Coordinator for a young adult transition program located in Burlington, Vermont. I coach and guide young adults in their process of creating patterns for healthy living. I am passionate about being able to teach and equip individuals with a variety of tools in order to navigate daily obstacles.

My lifelong goal is to inspire others and meet them where they are to help them create their own habits, incorporating simple and manageable nutrition advice and movement routines.
